Tax Question for Those Who Sold in 2007
Did you get any paperwork showing how much you sold your property for to use for taxes?
We have been calling our attorney over and over about getting our closing paperwork, and are constantly told next week, next week. Don't know what to do at this point, but I imagine we will need something to submit with taxes.
TIA for your help!

Did they give you a copy of the purchaser's HUD-1 because that would include all your expenses as long as the purchaser's attorney filled it out correctly.

Re: Tax Question for Those Who Sold in 2007
No, nothing! The attorney was going to send us our paperwork, and to be honest, we let the ball drop on following up with him for awhile. Now we keep calling him to remind him we need our closing paperwork, and he keeps saying he's sending it...
I'm not sure what to do next. I think I'll tell him we have an appt. soon to do our taxes (we do) and we need this document!
Thanks for the information.

I sold in 2007 but I was unaware that I needed to show my closing paperwork, I do have it though, we got it at the closing.

Yeah I would definitely keep bothering him/her for it and tell them you need it for your appointment. Good luck

Hi! Yes we received our paperwork at closing. I would just keep bothering him and tell him when your appointment is for. He knows you will need this for your taxes.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll lie and say our appt. is a bit earlier than it is--I don't want to have to chase this down at the last minute.
It's too bad, we were happy with him until this.

I guess he figures you aren't paying him any more to do something...

You do not need to provide any documentation, regarding the sale, to the IRS. Obviously, you should get the paperwork anyway.
