tax return question
we bought our house in dec, first payment not until feb 09...we put down 20%, and bought a point
last year we got hit hard in taxes because we didn't own anything...being that we havent made a mortgage payment yet, is the same thing going to happen this year??

Re: tax return question
the point you paid should be tax deductable for 2008
we closed the end of december, the previous owners hadn't paid the 1st half property taxes yet, so we paid those and that was also deductable.

Re: tax return question
you should get a statement with any of the taxes you paid in closing.
also mortgage tax is deductable (I think just state though?)
and don't forget, you HAVE paid a mortgage payment...it was during closing - you should get statements for it.
