Taylor Negron Dies: Friends, Seinfeld Star Dead at 57 After Cancer Battle
Veteran actor and comedian Taylor Negron passed away at age 57 on Saturday, Jan. 10, after a long battle with cancer. His cousin, Three Dog Night band member Chuck Negron, announced the news via an emotional YouTube message.
"I want to inform you that my cousin Taylor Negron just passed away. His mother, his brother Alex, my brother Rene, and his wife were all there with him. May he rest in peace. I just wanted all you people who knew him and loved him to know that he just passed," Chuck said in the clip.
Negron's impressive career spanned almost four decades with 130 acting credits to his name. He appeared in hit films like 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High, 1983's Easy Money, 1988's Punchline, 1991's The Last Boy Scout, 1994's Angels in the Outfield, and 1999's Stuart Little.
He also had guest roles on a series of hit TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Hope & Gloria, ER, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's So Little Time, That's So Raven, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
In addition to his work on the screen, Negron was also a respected comic, known for his appearances at L.A.'s Un-Cabaret — a monologue comedy show. According to Deadline, Negron was also passionate about painting, was on the board of LACMA, and recently released a solo exhibit called "Snow Paintings."
Following the news of his passing, many actors and comedians took to Twitter to pay their respects.
Billy Crystal tweeted, "So sad to hear of the loss of @Taylor_Negron. Brilliantly funny comedian actor and wonderful painter. #RestInPeace."
Former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney wrote, "I had a conversation with Taylor Negron one night at an SNL after party. He was so kind and funny and I think about it all the time. RIP."
Ben Stiller, who worked with Negron on The Ben Stiller Show, wrote, "Taylor Negron was a very smart, funny caring individual with a unique comedic voice. #RESPECT."
