Teacher mommies...
Is anyone else having a really hard time getting back into the swing of things? I'm so not on the ball this year, and it's only been a week that I'm back.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I'm adjusting well for the most part. I'm just exhausted when I get home, and I refuse to do any school work unitl DD is asleep. This has been the biggest adjustment for me. I used to come home and spend hours preparing special activities, but all of my "free" time I want to spend with Isabella. Rachel, It's only been one week, give yourself some credit, I'm sure it will get better!

I dont' think you will ever be back to what you were b/f DC. I know my priorities have changed and it's all about getting out ASAP to spend time w/ DD. I used to stay until 4,5 or 6:00pm even. Now it's rare that I stay past 3 pm.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I'm pretty much in the swing of things at school, but I have decided to be less anal about things. My room is not perfect and i still haven't finished everything, but I figure that it will get done when it gets done. No body even notices but me anyway. At night, I spend an hour after DS goes to sleep planning for the next day. If he would start sleeping through the night now, it would be great.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I am really impressed with you ladies....I am actually on a maternity leave until after Thanksgiving. I really don't know how i am going to swing going back. I too will be running out the door at 3 everyday to get home to my DD. I am hoping she will be sleeping through the night by then. What are you ladies doing for childcare? I am in the process of beginning my search and am looking for options.

I won't be back until after Thanksgiving, but I just can't picture how I will get back into it.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I have 2 kids, and went back to work (teaching) 3 months after DS was born, then 6 months after DD was born. All I have to say is, my priorities have changed. I still work hard, but I figure-since none of these kids have been in my class before, they have nothing to compare me to. I might feel a little bit guilty that I'm not quite the teacher I used to be, but I'd feel MUCH more guilty if I didn't make my own kids my first priority. I miss a lot of days and don't spend nearly as much time planning as I used to, but my own kids don't suffer at all.
I am VERY fortunate...I have the BEST nanny in the world, who comes at 7 every morning and leaves at 5. I don't know what I would do without her. We got her through my sister's nanny. We have found that the best nannies are the ones you find through the "nanny network."
FM if you need support.

Re: Teacher mommies...
When I'm actually there at my job I am okay with it all. It's when I'm home that it is really killing me. She's often waking up in the morning so she can see me before I leave at 6:15 -- -and she cries hysterically when I'm leaving, even when I try to sneak out. She just says Momma Momma over and over again and it KILLS me.
Then at night I can't even leave the room without her getting so upset. I cook dinner with her attached to my ankles --- she is just so clingy. And that really gets to me because it just makes me think that I am really doing something to make her upset.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I go back to work in January- I don't know how I'll swing it. I teach AP classes and they require a ton of grading at night. I guess my priorities will shift. I know I'll just want to spend time with DD & DH at night- my teaching will suffer a bit, but I know what's most important.

Re: Teacher mommies...
I'm having the worst year kid wize and parent wise on top of first time leaving bella. I just want to crawl into a hole and ..... you know what. Right now I hate my life (job wise) and want so desperately to stay at home. I am so burnt.
This is my worst year in teaching in 9 years!!!!!!!!!! Does that indicate how bad this year is????
I actually am now thinking of what kind of wine I will have when I get home from work as soon as the kids come in. If this year doesn;t make me an alcoholic, nothing will!
Anyway,
