Re: teacher stores
In addition to the above,
Creative Child in Rockville Centre in Sunrise Highway.
Also, don't be afraid of the dollar stores. things like book baskets, items for your desk, etc. etc. don't have to be bought at an expensive teacher store.... save your moeny.
also, if you're new this year, ask your prinicipal for the supply list... the kids are going to be bringign in supplies, make sure that is not what you're buying.
Also, see what the school already has... in terms of books, math manipulatives, etc. i spent too much my first year because i wasnt' sure what would be at my disposal.... you shouldn't be spending tons of moeny. also your school probably gives you a budget... you may have to order from a certain catalog or whatever company is approved by the district, but that's another way to get the things you want/need.

Re: teacher stores
If anyone is willing to drive a bit, there is a HUGE teacher store in Spring Valley NY (right off the thruway- by the Target/ x-mas tree shops)
There are other locations too but the one in Spring Valley is really big and worth a trip! I spent over $500 my last visit there
Educational Warehouse
