Teachers!!! A question about certification
I have my initial certification but need to apply for professional. They said I need to do a list of things, including the following workshops: Autism Childhood workshop Bullying workshop School violence
I did workshops when going for my initial certification. Are these all different? Also, how do I find out when/where they are offered?

Teachers!!! A question about certification
Do you work at a school? Mine does a yearly violence and bullying workshop.

Teachers!!! A question about certification
I thought the workshops for the initial carried over. The bullying workshop is relatively new, and it's called the DASA workshop. I know SCOPE does it, or you can google it and I believe the TEACH online website has a list of places that run it.

Re: Teachers!!! A question about certification
You need to do the DASA training to get your initial. I just completed it over the summer through BOCES.

I have my I initial certification already. I'm guessing I did this years ago.

Oh I see, the poster above mentioned this. So I guess since this is new I may need to do this. Do you know how long this workshop normally is? I hope the rest carry over. I'll be making phone calls tomorrow.

Re: Teachers!!! A question about certification
It's a new requirement, so you may not have done it. Call the regional certification office! They can look up your information and tell you what you need to do and where you can do it

Teachers!!! A question about certification
If you're not professionally certified as of December 31, 2013, you are required to complete the DASA workshop for your professional certification. I just beat it, but a lot of my coworkers needed to do it. You also need to do the DASA workshop if you're applying for new certification!

Re: Teachers!!! A question about certification
I know that the DASA workshop is a new requirement. It's six hours and is available at LIU Post through continuing education. Child abuse prevention and Project SAVE are also available but you probably completed those already. 516-299-4001 in case you need the number. (I work for a program which is also offered through continuing ed but can't actually help with registering for DASA, sorry!)
