Teacher's Assistant Job
I am thinking about changing jobs next year. I passed the Teacher's Assistant Exam for the NY State. Can someone give me information regarding the starting salary? And if they have benefits? I was informed they (TA's) do not receive pension or health insurance. Please help with any information. Thanks.

You were given misinformation about health insurance and retirement
Starting salaries vary from district to district...I was in one district making about 13,000 but had health insurance (medical/hospital) with Empire not dental or optical
I was in another disttrict making over 20,000 but this may have been because I had education credits since I was working towards a Masters in Ed. I also had full medical at this district.
Some districts have higher salaries but do not offer health benefits.
In both districts I opted into the Teachers Restirement System of NYS
