Teachers Elem ELA exam.....Need review material
I am correcting a sample passage I gave them...OH boy.....We need to do MAJOR test prep...Did anyone buy any good materials from an Educational Supply store or find anything on a website???

A great website to go to is http://www.studyzone.org/testprep/ (it is a part of the site on oswego.org)You can then click on the test prep you need. You can print things out and the students can also work on the website interactively. Hope that helps!

yep, that's what we do in math. there should be last year's actual test and last year's sample test, at a minimum.

We did this as well. We used the 2006 test as well as the sample online as two benchmarks.
We have old school test prep books (Measuring Up, Blast Off,etc.) but try to incorporate the MC skills into ReadingWorkshop instead of just doing "test prep."
Since the MC counts for so much, we I also pull small groups and use short passages to practice. (You can use the item maps online to isolate skills to practice.)

I use the AIM Higher series...my school gets them for our students so I dont know if they sell them individually.
I try to just practice skills and not so much with practice tests

We also used the Sample 2005 test and the actual test given in 2006..
Curriulum Associates has a workbook Making Reading Connections- a variety of passages- both fictionand non-fiction with multiple choice that focus on specific reading questions i.e main idea, sequencing... most of the 3rd grade ELA is M/C
They learn to identify the question being asked and then try the strategies taught on how to answer the particular question...
I teach my students the reading strategies and then practice using the questions. they also use these stratgies in their every day reading so they dont feel like its just for the test- which its not.. but we do get pressure for them to do well!
We also ordered a prep book from Steck- Vaughn not sure of the title....
