TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
I spend about 4-5 hours a weekend at least (I have 5 preps as a Special Ed. Collaborative Teacher).

Re: TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
It depends. I try to plan monthly, meaning I get an overview of what I'm doing for reading, writing , math and ss. Then I put the overviews on a calendar. Math is easy b/c I follow the lessons (ie 1.14 follows 1.13). Then I put the lessons into my planner. This takes a good weekend day. Then I supplement the empty boxes. Then I decide what books to use for lessons, how to make them exciting, what fun lessons we could do. Then I review every night to prepare for the next day or tweak lessons that are coming up, etc.
So to REALLY answer your question, I'm down to 2-3 hours a weekend, plus a good 7 hours for the beginning of the month. Then on top of that, work every day after school, planning here and there during the day (I go through my books often to see what is applicable).

I would say 4-5 hours a weekend. It should be less, but I am teaching 2 new classes this year.

0 hours. I plan my lessons during school on Mondays because I only have 2 classes. I always have one day during the week at school where I have almost no classes. It sucks because the rest of my week I either have one prep (which is really my lunch) or NO free periods. But, I never take any work home with me, so I can't really complain.

Re: TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
i spend about an hour or so getting materials from the curriculum from the school each day after the class. i then bring it home with me and do the lesson the nite before (about an hour or so). i cant plan ahead as the two classes i do have i split with another teacher, so i need to find out what they did. the most time i spend on the weekend is about 1-2 hours at most.

Re: TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
I try not to take lesson plans home with me -- and for the past 2 years have been sucessful in that. This year I haven't managed to pull it off yet though...so I'm doing my plans basically the night before -- but I do have pacing calandars that I made up for the whole month. So it takes me about an hour a night. I am going to attempt tonight to plan at least through wednesday.

0- I don't take my work home with me. I stay after school everyday for a 1/2 hour and get it all done there. When I'm home, I don't want to have to do work.

Re: TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
I try my best to do it after school, a little at a time. However this past week was pretty rough and we had meetings so I'll spend probably 2 hours or so tonight.

Re: TEACHERS: How long do you spend on lesson plans every weekend?
Last weekend I spent about 3 hours and that got me through 3 days.
I don't mind spending part of the weekend- DH teaches at two colleges and always has to spend part of the weekend planning too, so we sometimes go to Starbucks to work.
