Teachers that teach writer's workshop
I've heard a few schools of thought on this one and just wondering, do you use folders w/ paper choices or writing notebooks? Also please indicate what grade you teach. TIA!

Re: Teachers that teach writer's workshop
I am trained in Literacy Collaborative. I use folders and paper choices, so it allows for different types of writing. I used to use notebooks. I think I like the folders better. I teach first grade.

Re: Teachers that teach writer's workshop
I teach middle school. This year my kids are using writer's notebooks of their choosing (I mandate a marble composition book for Reader's Workshop) so they have anything from plain spiral books to decorated journals. They collect their ideas in the notebooks and write their completed drafts on loose-leaf.

I teach first grade and we use folders. We have paper choice too. As per Teachers College, K-1(sometimes grade 2) use folders and 2-5 use writers notebooks.

Me too, i use folders and paper, but to be honest, I'm not sure how much I love it. I used to use notebooks and I felt like the management was much easier, neater (1st grade also). I also liked how they could flip to the front to see the amazing progress they had made. I understand the reasoning behind the folders/paper though.

Same with me. We use the Columbia model for teaching Writer's Workshop.
