Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
I had an observation today and when we had our conference afterwards my principal asked "Is there anything you want to tell me or share?"
I almost told her, but I think it is too soon. I am only 10w 3d.
I am due in September--not great timing, but it is what it is. I am so happy to be PG.
She told me she is opening another class next year in my grade and she wants me to help the person she hires. I was thinking OH S%%!
So when is it fair to tell her? I had a MC last year so I want to wait until I know I am OK. Whenever that is?
I have no idea when I will start to show, but I want to be fair.
I am so nervous. I feel bad leaving in September with a new batch of little kids. I feel like they will forget all about me.
I will probably only be there the first two weeks.
When should I tell her?
Thanks

If you've m/c before, I would wait until 14/15 weeks. And honestly maybe not go in the first couple weeks of the school year, especially if those are the last weeks of your PG. It would be much harder on the kids to have 2 weeks with you and then have to adjust to someone new.
Are you tenured?

No, I am not. I do not have too many days in my bank I am trying to stretch it as long as I can.
Thanks

I think you should tell her when you are ready pregnancy-wise and not based on the job.

Re: Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
As a school administrator (thats also due in Sept), there is nothing wrong with waiting the 3 months to tell her
maybe right before vacation??

I told my principal at 12 weeks.
I think you definitely can wait another month if you feel more comfortable.

Re: Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
My contract spipulates that I must notify my district at the end of my 1st trimester. So that's when I'm notifying her.

Re: Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
The first time I told her at 16 weeks. The second time I told her at 14 weeks. She thought I assumed I was 12 weeks

Re: Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
I would wait until you are ready. It is still early and though principals are in the process about thinking about September, no definite plans are made as of yet. It's up to you when you tell your principal - you do not owe it to her to tell her right now. When you do tell her, you can always say that you wanted to wait until you were in your second trimester.

Re: Teachers: When do you think I should tell my principal?
My principal was already starting to plan ahead for next year and felt it was fair to tell her early, but I felt guilty and that's just me. I'm due 9-2 so I just wanted it off my chest. I would wait till 2nd tri to tell her but it really is whatever you feel comfortable with. Good luck w/ the rest of your pregnancy

I told my principal right around 12 weeks. It doesn't mean you have to tell everybody.
