Funds are definitely running low, but I think we'll make it. It is the ONLY reason I want to go back

do you choose to be paid this way or is that what you have to do?

ooh man that stinks!!!
We had 3 choices. I did 26 equal payments. No worrying about budgeting in the summer!

We dont ge the choice to get paid every two weeks over the summer... we can do the "26 check" options, but we get all that $$ in june and it SUCKKSSSSS. I am running very low!

i hear you! we're okay though because DH is a NYC teacher so he gets paid over the summer and that is what we live on.
it also helps that our very first mortgage payment isn't due until Sept. 1

DH put my check in a separate account and has been "paying" us biweekly, thank goodness.... I still feel like I need a real check though!!! Last summer I didn't do the lump sum and we were in trouble!

That's exactly what I do. I put it into savings, then pay our checking account every 2 weeks. We wouldn't survive otherwise.

am I the only one who choses the 10 month (20 pay period) option?
Dh is in the corporate world though, so we do have income coming in.

That's what I do... most teachers in my building do this because you lose more taxes getting the lump pay. so I haven't gotten paid since June, but my paychecks are larger throughout the year. it would probably be easier to budget if i opted into the 25 pay periods, but it works out fine.
DH is board of ed. so he gets paid through the summer.

Re: teachers who get paid in one lump sum check in June- How are you holding up??
I was a city teacher and now work on LI. I don't understand why we can't get paid over the summer. I usually am good about budgeting, but I would love to get paid over the summer. Does anyone know why we don't get paid like the city does?

I wish I had a choice but we don't. I always feel like we are getting jipped by getting more taxes taken out... Ive been better at budgeting but still, 9/15 is looking pretty damn good!!!!

It all works out eventually. My paychecks are bigger, so there might be more taken out of each one...either way, it evens out in April with your return

I'm hanging in there - I budgeted pretty well but I still can't wait for the first paycheck!
Both DH and I have the lump sum checks, however he gets paid the first week of Sept so I'm definitely looking forward to that! I have to wait till the 15th though.

Re: teachers who get paid in one lump sum check in June- How are you holding up??
just fyi...I asked my payroll sec today - she said those that elect 26 checks are taxed as 5 separate paychecks - so no more taxes taken out. Not sure f all districts are like that?
