Teachers....question regarding subbing
what is "required" to be a substitute on Long Island?
Do you need a bachelors degree? some sort of certification?

I'm not sure if this is true of all districts, but i know when my friends were subbing they had to have a teaching certificate.

At this point, pretty much all Long Island districts will want you to have your teaching certification. Also, you need to be fingerprinted and have them cleared with the State Ed Dept which I just heard is taking up to twelve weeks for clearance right now!

Re: Teachers....question regarding subbing
There are so many certified teachers (with degrees) looking for a job that they or retired teachers make up all of the regular subs in my district... oh, and my district is the lowest paying in Nassau county for subs
