Tech said she was 90% sure of gender at my 12 week NT scan. Opinons? Experiences? TIA
I am 12 weeks and 1 day today according to my original due date. Today at my NT scan she said I was measuring about 5 days ahead- so almost 13 weeks.
I asked her in passing when we could find out the gender. She said people usually find out at their 20 week scan.
About 5 minutes pass- totally off the gender topic and doing measurements etc. when she goes, "well did you want to know? BC I have a pretty clear image right now" I say sure! She then says that she feels 90% certain that the baby is
Now, one thing I feel leaning towards her being right is that she was totally in the clear as far as guessing- it's not like I pressured her to tell me anything. So, I think she must have felt very certain to just come forward like that kwim?
Does anyone have experiences with being told this early? Right? Wrong? Said boy but girl? Girl but boy? Etc.
I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. Not really about the gender- I was sorta thinking pink but I'm definitely happy either way. I think I'm a little disappointed in the anti-climax. Last time we found out at 17 weeks when we went to Impact for that specifically- so I was all nervous- moment built up- our families came to watch on the big screen. Not that I need a whole to do but hah idk it was so out of left field today and on top of it I'm not confident about the determination so I have a different feeling than last time.
Thanks for listening

The tech was wrong at my sono.. It was just too early.. I have a 45 minute DVD of my "son's" penis when in fact it was girl!!!
When I went for my Level II, they told me it was a girl.. I was in such shock and disbelief.. happy in either case but I had wished I would have waited until the 20 week sono..
I do know some people that have been told the gender as early as you and they were right..

This made me giggle....
My sono tech wouldn't even take a stab at gender until 18 weeks. Only a few more weeks until you can find out

The tech at my 12 week sono in my last pregnancy said she would say with about 75% accuracy that it was a boy. She was right-I have a son!

At my 12 wk scan they guessed and were wrong ! I have . She did say that early guesses are only about 60-70% accurate.

12 weeks is WAY too early and most Dr(s) and sono techs will tell you that -

When I was pregnant, I looked into this (but decided to stay team green), but I remember reading that the genitalia area looks the same, boy or girl, at 12 weeks. It's at 14 weeks that the genitalia can be differentiated boy vs. girl parts. Before that, they have a nub regardless of sex.
There are people that have gotten the right sex told at 12 weeks, but me personally, I wouldn't trust it until after 14 weeks.

During my NT scan at 12 weeks, she was totally right and the doctor told me as well. It was confirmed last week when I received my CVS results. Good Luck!

I was told at my 12w scan, and then at 16w and confirmed at 20w - I think it is too early to tell.

I wound up measuring further ahead at my 12 week sono, so she made a guess and was right!

The tech told us the same thing: she was 95% sure she knew what we were having, but we "shouldn't paint the nursery yet." She said and she was right!

Re: Tech said she was 90% sure of gender at my 12 week NT scan. Opinons? Experiences? TIA
At 12 weeks you can sometimes guess the gender by looking at the "nub" both boys and girls have a "nub" at 12 weeks that kind of looks like a penis. Some techs can predict the gender by the angle of the nub -- I think a flat nub suggests girl and an angled suggests boy. So, if she was taking a nub guess, she may be right.
I do know someone who was told boy at 12 weeks only to hear girl at 20. Either way she has a 50/50 chance of being right!

Re: Tech said she was 90% sure of gender at my 12 week NT scan. Opinons? Experiences? TIA
My close GF was also told boy at the 12 week based on the nub and the tech was right. With both my DC, the techs wouldnt guess at 12 weeks. I found out for my 1st at almost 20 weeks and for my 2nd at almost 18 weeks.
Deedlebugs took a guess at my daughters nub at 12 weeks and said it was girly and she was right so I totally agree that it's possible if the tech went based on your babies nub. Also, my OB took a look for me when i was pregnant with my DD at around 16 weeks. She told me she didnt really know what to look for as she wasnt a tech but she would guess boy (obvously she was wrong LOL).
