Re: Teen Mom's effect on pregnancy
I think it's working in deterring most teens.
A lot of people who have never seen the show just assume it "glorifies" teen pregnancy. In reality, it shows these girls that being a teen mom is NOT some glamorous thing. More often than not, it's the mom who gets stuck at home, all by herself, while the baby daddy is either out or not even in the picture. Not to mention they miss out on so many things their friends are doing, and all because they decided to have unprotected sex.
No one on Teen Mom has a fantastic life, they all struggle in so many ways. I know my niece has watched the show and said "omg I had no idea it is so hard!" and even saying "Why do the guys leave and get to have fun" and I tell her, "because they aren't the ones who have to carry the baby, and the moms get the short end of the stick...that's life as a teen mom sometimes."
It definitely opened her eyes up a lot more!

Re: Teen Mom's effect on pregnancy
They were talking about on some show how some people were trying to get pregnant on purpose because of it. I don't really know....

Re: Teen Mom's effect on pregnancy
I put Jeremy in the laps of my teenaged nieces and nephew, wait for him to cry and say "Keep your damn legs locked because your parents will NOT pay for your mistakes!" They look at me like Im nuts.
