Teen who fell off car dies from injuries

A Selden teenager who fell off the bumper of a moving vehicle that his friend was driving died Friday from his injuries, Suffolk police said.
Raymond Cuiffo, 16, died at Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was admitted after the accident July 14 in critical condition with serious head injuries, police said.
Cuiffo and Dylan Revere, 17, of Kings Park, were standing on the rear bumper and holding on to the roof rack of a Ford Explorer about 3:30 a.m. as it was traveling east on East Main Street in Kings Park, police said. When the driver, Taylor Kern, 17, of Kings Park, sped up, Kern's two friends fell off, police said, but only Cuiffo suffered life-threatening injuries.
Det. Sgt. John Kempf, said after the accident, "They were basically playing around with the car. ... Once every summer, one teenager gets hurt fooling around with cars."
Kern and Revere fled the scene immediately after the accident, police said, but were later found and Kern was arrested. A relative of Revere said the two teens fled the scene because they felt intimidated by men there who were yelling at them.
Kern was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries, and with second-degree reckless endangerment.
Kempf said Friday that with Cuiffo's death, the district attorney's office will review the case and decided whether there will be any additional charges.

so, so sad. 
We were at a wedding last night when my brother got the call. 
He knows all 3 boys - even though he wasn't in their circle of friends, he played football with all 3. Proving that teenage immortality doesn't exist is always a parental goal, but NO ONE wants it to happen like this.

I will pray for his family that they get through this rough time.... My heartbreaks to hear things like this.

I was just at a graduation party where the kids were all talking about the arrangements...they went to school with him. This breaks my heart..

I work at Stony Brook and the Hospital was filled w/teenagers all week!
