Teeth Cleaning
Has anyone had their teeth cleaned around 28 weeks? I'm going next week & I'm worried about how much my gums are going to bleed. They are so sensitive lately.
The dentist knows I'm PG so I guess it's ok.

Re: Teeth Cleaning
yeah i think dentists are used to it with pregnant patients. i think they're actually happy to see you coming in when you're PG.

Re: Teeth Cleaning
I went a few months ago and my gums bled insanely!!!!

Re: Teeth Cleaning
I went a few weeks ago, probably at 31 weeks, and they did not bleed, but OMG! The cleaning really hurt. I needed a filling too, and that didn't bother me much at all--just the cleaning.
Definitely floss every day. I do, but it still was painful.

Re: Teeth Cleaning
I went yesterday at 9 weeks and kept apologizing for my bleeding! They kept saying not to worry...they are used to it with pregnant people!

Topical anesthetic is your friend. I had my first of the series of PG cleanings I will have (bad history so not taking chances), and I told them I am PG so please be gentle. She asked if I would like topical, and I think my enthusiastic "HELL YES" said it all. Good luck!

I am 28w2d and i had my teeth cleaned on monday. there was a lot more blood than normal, but it wasnt any more painful. Don't worry, the bleeding is normal. they told me it will stop after the pregnancy.
