Tell me about Vegas...

we're thinking of doing a weekend for our 3 year wedding anniversary.

I'm PG, so no alcohol for me.

Re: Tell me about Vegas...

I have been to Vegas twice and would love to go back in the future. There is so much more to do than drink and gamble. Walking in all the hotels can alone take you days. There is is tons of shopping and shows. I would also highly recommend a tour of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely amazing. I have stayed at the Excalibur. It was a nice hotel but it was more towards the end of the strip. I would say to get a hotel that is in the middle.

I wish I could, you see what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. And for me, it was something to do with winning like $200 in quarters and me actually rolling on the floor laughing.

Sorry I can't tell you more.

Re: Tell me about Vegas...

we went last year for a wedding. we stayed at the MGM. it was GREAT! we stayed in the "west wing", which has rooms that were just redone. there was a TV built into the bathroom mirror, nice new comfy bed, Bose radio, etc... the wedding we were there for was at the venetian, which was GORGEOUS, and really romantic for an anniversary ( although i hear its $$$)
there really is TONS to do- you can just walk along ths strip and go into each of the casinos and theres things to see in every one. pretty much every hotel/casino has an all you can eat buffet, so food is no problem Chat Icon there are also tons of shows you can catch- all of the cirque shows, comedy shows. now, i know you said no alcohol, but one night we went to a "dualing pianos" bar in the "New york, New York" casino.. and it was AWESOME- they had 2 pianos, and two singers and they would go back and forth singing and just being funny with each other, it was great. we had the best time singing along and stuff
LOL now i want to go back! have fun!

I've been twice , love it and I'm going back this summer! both times I stayed at the mirage, perfect location. saw cirque "O"- very good show. if you like clubs, Tao and Rain are good. Ghost Bar in the palms is cool too. The pool at the mirage is so nice you could spend all day there Chat Icon

IT AWESOME Chat Icon

Ok anyway. I love Vegas have been several times. We have stayed at the Trop (it was a long time ago) Harrahs, The Venetian, The Rio.

Our favorite hotel was the rio. Only downside is its not on the strip but it is by the palms (mtv real world) and it has a shuttle to take you to harrahs which is on the strip.

JUST KIDDING!
We stayed at the excalibur we went to a family wedding and it was a cheap place to stay and be on the strip. IT WAS FILLED WITH KIDS! I didnt bother me but it did to other people. It is def a fun place but i liked staying on the main strip.

Re: Tell me about Vegas...

It's like no other place - really.

I've stayed at the Excalibur, Monte carlo, Riviera & Stratosphere....all very reasonably priced hotels. The Monte Carlo was my favorite.

You certainly don't need a car in Vegas. You will do so much walking & several hotels have trams in-between each other. There is also a bus that goes up and down the strip for about $2 each way.

There's a ton of shopping on thr strip. Ceasars has a great indoor mall, as does bellagio.

Like the other posters said, you can spend most of your time going in and out of each hotel to marvel at the decor. They really are unbelievable.

As far as food, you can eat at many different buffets, or wondeful restaurants. A lot of world renowned chefs are also in Vegas now, so you can have a lot of fine cuisine there too.

I can go on and on. Vegas is a MUST SEE - enjoy!!

Re: Tell me about Vegas...

We stayed at the MGM Grand the last time we went. Check and see where hotels are in relation to the rest of the strip--stratosphere is cheap but really far away. Paris Paris is IMO the perfect location.

It was I think a 4 1/2 hour flight from here, so I wouldn't do a long weekend because we basically wasted a day going and coming. We had to be at the airport 2 hours early each way.

I don't know how long the trip is from you though.

I really wanted to see the Cirque du Soleil show Ka--I heard it is amazing--but it was shut the week we were there. We saw a cheesy impersonator show in the Stratosphere that was fun.

Re: Tell me about Vegas...

If you can, stay at the Paris. It was a nice respite from all the craziness at so many of the other hotels on the strip. Very sedate and calmer.
