Tell me again how u transitioned....
DCs to a bed....and did u go the toddler bed route, or did u go right to the twin bed with the side rail?
hannah is not climbing out or ANYTHING, and she is such a great sleeper, but my whole theory is that i do NOT want to kick her out of her crib after the baby is born- she will be old enough then to understand that she is being shafted for the baby, u know? like she isnt going to feel it enough when i cant play with her bc of BFing and stuff like that......
SO, im wanting to transition sometime after xmas....should i put the crib into the toddler bed for a couple months then give her a "gid girl" bed? or just give her the bed....????
im just confused as to how to do this...and i hear from some of you that u put ur DCs in the new beds and they become horrible sleepers!! eeeeeekkkk!!

I haven't been there yet - but I am thinking about doing this the same time as you.
My opinion, and like I said I haven't been there - but I want to go straight to a big girl bed. I look at it like, why put her in a toddler bed, if I then have to transition her again to a big girl bed.
I would rather have less transitions, ya know

Re: Tell me again how u transitioned....
We put a twin bed in his new room. He went in that night. Two weeks later, we moved Maddie into his crib.
I wouldn't bother with a toddler bed unless you are very cramped on space. In my opinon, it's a waste of money & one more transition than you have to deal with.
eta. I didn't bother with a side rail. I used a pillow to lay along side of him. My niece got caught her leg caught in a side rail so I didn't bother with one.

Re: Tell me again how u transitioned....
Is the baby staying in a bassinet in your room at first? That is when we did the "biggest" part of the transition, but we did start even before she was born.
We moved Andrew to his own room, set up his toddler bed (we got a toddler bed because you saw how small his room was). We let him nap in the bed every day. He was great, it was so funny, when he woke from his nap, he would call me to get him
Once Lauren was home, she was in a bassinet in our room, so we started to ask Andrew if he wanted to be a big boy and sleep in his bed at night. It went so well, we had no problem. Since Hannah is a lot like Andrew, I think you might find it easier than you think...
I assume they will share the bedroom? Set up Hannah's big girl bed in the room, and leave the crib. Start with her taking naps in the bed. After while, we ended up putting a pressurized gate in the doorway, so if he did get out of bed, he couldn't wander the house.

Roman went into a toddler bed which converts to a regular twin. He went into a totally new bedroom. He transitioned very well, and for the most part still sleeps well. We started when he was about 15 months although his pediatrician advised us against it.
