tell me which credit card to open!!
DH and i STILL don't have a joint credit card. we have our own from before we're married even though all our bank accounts are pretty much joint.
we want to open a new credit card with:
*NO annual fee
*points or other rewards (not interested in airline miles)
we each already have a discover that we love for the points and i have 2 cap one accounts that i will be closing and he has a chase account that is pointless.
tell me your ideas! thanks!!!

open an amex...it's a charge card. You have to pay it all at once.
Keeps you honest and on budget.
Also comes with money back, and/or rewards.
the year end statements and other features are great online.

We have an Amex from costco 1.5% cash back. We usually get a nice rebate check every February.

Great rewards
You don't have to pay off like traditional Amex cards

If you both love the Discover, why don't you just use that account? Maybe add his name to yours or yours to his?

We love our Hilton Amex. It has no fee, and we get a ton of Hilton Points. We never pay for hotel rooms when we travel.

Citibank has a great card w/ no APR for a year, even with a balance transfer and then after the year the APR is only 9.9%

Totally agree. I've have had this card for years and it pretty much the only one I use. I hardly ever carry a ballance but my APR is really low as well.

we tried that but they don't let you "combine" accounts anymore and we didn't want to just add a name--we want a joint account.

yeah, they won't do that anymore. I was just told the same thing by my CC company last week. Some new credit act in 2007...
I would def go for a mastercard or visa, because some places still don't accept Amex or Discover. (ESPECIALLY overseas)

Visa/Mastercard is more universal than AmEx. A lot of places won't take a traditional AmEx since there are more fees for the seller. Just something to keep in mind. I've been to quite a few places that won't take AmEx.

if you plan on using it A LOT, I would get the Amex with rewards.
if you only plan to use it occasionally, I would look into the Discover Miles Card. we have it - no annual fee and you can use the reward points for a lot of different things, not just airline tickets.

good point. you should get 2 cards if you're going to get Amex or Discover. I have a Mastercard too.

we have a citicard dividend one- no annual fee, and i think we get like 1-2% cash back depending on the purchase, sometimes more- i have had it since college and it has been great- i like the cash back instead of rewards because i can always use cash- points i cant always use...
