Telling family next time around

How do you imagine you'll tell your family next time you get PG? Will you wait a while or tell right away? Do you think the excitement is gone - for both you and them?

Re: Telling family next time around

I feel like someone let all the air out of my tires- so yes- i feel like the excitement has been robbed. This was my 1st pregnancy and it resulted in a m/c and i can imagine that next time, i will just announce that im pg very matter-of-fact.

Also, we only plan to tell parents and siblings the next time around. We certainly wont be announcing it to many other people like we did this 1st time

Re: Telling family next time around

We announced too soon also. I got caught up in the fact that my 3 best friends and neighbor were also expecting (yeah, that made it pretty hard).

I wanted to do a big announce next time, just to our parents and my brother, but since we're doing IVF and are pretty public about it, they know when my BFPs or BFNs are expected to come.

I'm sorry to say that I will be less excited about the next pregnancy. It is like having your first broken heart; you go into it the next time nervously because you know how badly it hurts when it ends.Chat Icon

We did not announce our PG to anyone. We didn't even tell our parents. NOBODY knew. THey only found out after the m/c.
Next time around, we will also keep it a secret.
I am sure though, that I will privately tell my Dad.
But other than him, we won't be telling in laws or extended family until 5 months.

Re: Telling family next time around

First time we did the whole wrapped granparent frame with the sono pic for our parents @ 8 weeks..we though oh we saw the heartbeat so we are safe......than we misscarried at 11 weeks..next 2 were chem pregnancies so we told the family after the 3rd one when we went for more testing etc...4th pregnancy our family and close friends knew right away but no big hooplah..we just wanted all the prayers and support.. alos after telling people after the miscarriages we figured they would know anyway down the road if something happened again so why not get to share good news for a change...i think with the next one (hopefully) we will do the same tell just immeidate frienda and family for the support...

I will definitely tell my parents right away but I'll wait a bit longer to tell my IL's.

for parents & siblings the excitement is still there, i think for friends its not quite the same.....

on first we told everyone, on our second one limited who we told,

after the two losses this year we told just parents & siblings. Once we cleared 3 months we then told grandparents, work, and the rest of the family. our family is sooooo excited for us.

Re: Telling family next time around

We had only told my family (incl. my brothers) a few days after my bfp the 1st time around, so there weren't too many people to fill in afterwards other than his family (they live OOS & we had wanted to tell them in person).

With my 2nd + we just told my parents (immediately) and his parents shortly after...and then had to take it back again Chat Icon

Next time, if we should be so lucky, we're not telling anyone until after we've heard the h/b & we have a healthy sono pic in hand. It'll be hard not telling my mom, but she looked so, soooo sad last time that I've decided that I can't keep doing this to her Chat Icon

Re: Telling family next time around

The first time we told close friends and family immediately. I had tested early so we were totally out there at 3 weeks.

This time we are 5 weeks in and only our parents know and we told them that we got a positive on a pregnancy test and we won't know more until our first doctors appointment in December.

We are definitely more low key this time around.
