temp or OPK?
is one more accurate than the other? I don't quite see myself taking my temp before i get out of bed. I think DH would freak if he saw me do that

Re: temp or OPK?
They have different benefits. OPK's can tell you that you are about to ovulate and the temping tells you that you already ovulated.
It seems to me that the OPK's are good to tell you when to start BDing. Downfall: you can miss your surge if your surge is less than 24 hours long and it is expensive to test twice a day.
Temping can help u pinpoint the day of O after it happend for future reference to see if there is a pattern. Temping can also tell you if you have a good chance of being pg (temp remaining high) or whether AF is about to arrive (temp drop) which takes the guess work of whether it is implantation bleeding or actual AF. Big downfall is it is a little annoying and I always seem to mess it up.

Re: temp or OPK?
Also- with OPKs, it only detects the LH- it doesn't mean you will O. Many times you can get a + OPK and then not O (due to stress, illness, etc).
I used both temping with the OPKs and found it a great help, as I could pinpoint whether or not I actually Oed when the OPKs predicted.
You get used to temping pretty quickly...
Good Luck

typically you "should" start on the first day of full flow. But one/two day difference in your first month doesn't really matter.
Go ahead and start ASAP.
First step, go by a BBT Thermeter(Basal Body Temp), then grab taking charge of your fertility, and sign up for a charting website like fertilityfriend.com
Here's the book
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. I conceived twice by charting.

Re: temp or OPK?
Also a word on OPK's.
They should be used as a secondary measure of the fertile window. Primary signs of o should be your temp and CM, use OPK's as a backup of your fertile window.
Once you have been charting for a couple months you will be able to see patterns in your chart and be able to pinpoint when to start using OPK's. This will say you tons of money! You can still use the OPK's if you would like, but if you have no clue where you are in your cycle, you could go through many of them before you even get a tad bit of surge.
For myself, I only got a surge for 1 day, maybe, surge's are soo easy to miss too. which is why you shouldn't rely on them on when to BD during your fertile window.
Take the tutorial class that Fertility friend offers, it's great! I have been charting for awhile and conceived twice by charting, and i still learned some points from it.
Good luck!
