Tempurpedic mattress?
Anyone have this? Or the Bob-o-pedic?
We looove the comfort level, but I heard someone mention that it retains your body heat, and makes for a very hot bed. But not in the good way
Thoughts?

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
I have a Tempurpedic and looooooove it.
It can get warm sometimes, but usually not in the summer (b/c of the CAC)...usually in the winter because the heat is on.
The comfort of the mattress far outweighs any minor heat issues.

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
We have it and love it.
I have no issues with it retaining heat but I tend to always be cold.
The hubby doesn't have any problems heat-wise either, though.
Good luck!

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
You probably heard the heat issue from an earlier post of mine. We had the Tempurpedic and returned it.
We currently live in a co-op building and do not control the heat. The bed only made the issue worse. It does retain heat and DH and I were miserable. We ended up with a Simmons Beautyrest and are very happy and much cooler
FYI - I have friends who have tempurpedics and love them and have no problems at all....so please don't let our opinion change your decision!
Good Luck!

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
We have one and I have heat issues with it. My husband doesn't. Most nights I wake up drenched in sweat, no matter what pj's I wear to bed. My husband has no problems, this bed is his other love. It is comfy and I did go out and get us the matching pillows b/c it is such a nice sleep ..I just wish I wouldn't get so freaking hot at 3am and have to shower off.

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
I wonder if a mattress pad would help that? Seems like maybe it can save us some $$ on heating!

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
a mattress pad helps alot - my dh gets hot at night ( and not in the good way) and adding a mattress pad on his side solved it. personally i am always cold and i love it.

you take away from the bed by putting a mattress pad on it.
i own a different type of this similar bed. the heat issue is noticeable but not drastic. we have grown use to this.

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
I have the Bob-O-Pedic and would suggest it in a heartbeat - I think ours was 1,000 less than the Tempurpedic.
Yes, it does get a little hotter than a traditional bed. We do have a small mattress pad and it does not take away from it because you are still "sinking" and "molding" into the mattress. I'm not talking like a thick thing, but they even sell one that helps.
However, you get used to it --- it's not terrible. I can tell you that my DH, who has had back problems since High School, has not been back to the chiropracter since we moved in a year ago.
I highly suggest!

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
I've never heard of a Bob-O-Pedic, but it sounds great to me.
DH always sleeps with thick comforters on, even in the heat of summer, so I don't think the heat would be a problem with us.

Hello lovah!
The Bob-O-Pedic is from Bob's discount furniture. I think the price for a king set (with boxspring) was around... $1200.

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
Niiiiiiiice. That's the one big purchase we're going to splurge on when we get a house. A nice wood king-sized bed with new matress.
The crappy beds we sleep on now will go in the guest bedroom.

Re: Tempurpedic mattress?
we just got a foam bed, not temperpedic, but similar. LOVE, love, love the comfort of the bed. I never want to get out. BUT, yes, it does retain heat. And the odd thing is, not all nights, and not to both of us. I can't pin my finger on when or why but one of us inevitably wakes up in the middle of the night DRENCHED in sweat. They marketed it to say that the foam "accolomates to temperature to retain more heat in the winter and stay cooler in the summer". So, hopefully once summer rolls around, it will be a little cooler than it has been.
