Terrible Back Pain
Im 21 week pregnant and have been experiencing the worst back pain to the point where I want to cry! Everything I do has to be in slow motion and its been getting difficult to get up from my desk without grinding my teeth and letting out a cry. I haven't done anything strenous for the last couple days - so i don't know what it could be.
I sit down at work for most of the day (which doesn't help) and get my chores done at home - which has been killing me lately (but someone has to do it). I don't know if its because of the pregnancy or sciatic nerve - but i really need help.
What do you suggest I do? Has anyone been experiencing this kind of back pain? Im just afraid of whats to come once I get bigger. thanks.

Re: Terrible Back Pain
I have been feeling the same thing. I have always have had a bad back so I was expecting this. I have not taken anything for it. I just go straight home and lie down. I wish I could offer better advice.

Re: Terrible Back Pain
I had the same thing with baby number 1 and this one too.. ( ia m 18/19weeks)It was my siatica.. They gave me a recommendation with baby number one for a physical therapist, who works with just preggo women.. (I dont know where you live, but mine was affiliated through St. charles.. ur hospital or Dr. should have someone to recommend)... THAT was the best decision my Dr and I EVER made!!!! It eased soooo many problems that could have gotten out of control.. strengthend my abdominal and muscles in that area.. I HIGHLY recommend asking your Dr. if a PT is right for you..
I have an appointment with my dr. (for baby #2) on Monday and he said that if the pain was still persistant he would recommend someone...
HTH,and Good Luck! Feel better!!!

HTH,and Good Luck! Feel better!!! Thank you Ladies!! I meet with my doctor again in a couple weeks and will mention it to him then. I thought it would go away but it doesn't and im eager to hear if he wants me to go to a physical therapist. Im going to try and lay low for a few days and rest - its a feeling you don't wish upon anyone! Thanks for sharing your stories.

Re: Terrible Back Pain
I had sciatic nerve pain pretty bad on and off throughout the pregnancy and found that the thing that helped the most was getting a goodcomfortable sleep. For me that meant a lot of pillows propped up in all the right places, and I had to experiment with what worked for me. It can be very painful. Hang in there. The idea of PT sounds like a GREAT one! I had PT after an accident once and it helped so much.

Re: Terrible Back Pain
My two friends have the same back pain and one goes to physical therapy and the other goes to an accupressurist (sp?). Both have had success.

Re: Terrible Back Pain
I had it around the same time. It was horrifying. Every move felt like shock treatments. But after about 2 weeks, it went away. Now i am 29 weeks and havent had any back pain since then. I used heating pads/ice packs on and off. I just think it was the way the baby was laying. Hope you get relief soon!!!
