Terrified of TTC!!
Hey ladies... so as some of you know, I suffer from panic/anxiety.... well I am TERRIFIED of TTC... DH and I talk about it for the future, but I honestly CANNOT see myself being pregnant... heck, I cant even see myself having to take a prenatal(fear of taking pills).... the whole thing is sooo scary to me... anyone else have this fear??

oh yes. It is the thing that we fight about most. I have told him that once I am 100% sure that my medical issues are under control that we will start, but I am not sure.

Re: Terrified of TTC!!
While I don't have the pill anxiety, I have an awful, awful fear of doctors. I cry and shake more and more as a day leads up to an appointment. It's really awful. It's so bad that I've fainted on the exam table during my annual GYNO exam. I have to take someone with me because I can never drive home afterwards. I so want to be pg, and the closer and closer we get to TTCing, I freak out. It upsets me because I want to experience pregnancy, but I'm scared out of my mind because I know it means doctor visits, needles, hospital. I also worry about PPD because I am prone to depression/anxiety.
I've even thought about trying hypnosis to see if that will help.

I feel exactly the same way. It's so good to hear that I am not alone! My fear of doctors is absolutely debilitating- to the point where I just don't go anymore. I know how bad that is- but I just can't control it. I end up cancelling appointments because I can't take the anxiety. I have had panic attacks in waiting rooms, have almost passed out in the exam room, and my blood pressure and heart rate are always through the roof anytime a doctor gets near me. Everyone tells me that getting pregnant will be the best way to get over this fear- because at that point you have no choice- you have to go to the doctor and it becomes more about the baby than you. I'm not so sure though... So I totally feel your pain! Maybe we should start a support group!

Re: Terrified of TTC!!
I'm embarrassed to admit that I was 31 the first time I went to the gyno
It's so bad that 6 years ago, my dad was at stony brook for a heart cath and I was there waiting for him in the waiting room. When they told me I could go see him, I went into the recovery room started feeling woozy and next thing I knew I heard all this yelling and I woke up in the bed next to my father in the recovery room. Not my brightest moment

I feel your pain! I am very embarrased to tell people that I never go to the doctor. I avoid the topic at all costs. I am also afraid that when I do get the courage to go they are going to yell at me for not going in so long! I also get a little woozy in hospital settings- even if it's not for me. The hospital smell alone gets me nervous. I've never passed out in one though- yet!

Oh no!!!!
I dont really have a fear so much of dr's... just a fear of "no control"... thats why I dont put anything "foreign" into my body... its hard for me to take a tylenol even when I have 103 fever, never mind having to take a vitamin everyday... ugh... and then the thought of having someone else in control of my body... aye yae yae... and then the thought of being in a hospital!!!!!!! I've had soo many bad experiences w/ hospitals in the past couple of years w/ my parents dying and my grandpa dying... I'm just overwhelmed!!

Re: Terrified of TTC!!
I too have the loss of control issue! I had to have 2 teeth pulled last year and I REFUSED to be put out for it. I just told him to numb the heck out of me and do it. It wasn't pleasant to be awake while he was yanking teeth out of my head- but it was SOOOO much better in my eyes to be awake and in complete control. I do not like the idea of being drugged at all. As long as they can take care of the pain, I want to be awake and in control at all times!
