Test Results, Part 2 +UPDATE

I spent almost a half hour on the phone with Dr B.

We all know that DH's tests were fine. Chat Icon
Mine came back almost completely normal as well. The only thing was a mild vitamin deficiency which he's prescribing meds for and I'll likely be on forever because of this deadbeat enzyme.

He's recommending the panel of immune testing. We're only doing part of it right now because DH is getting excessed from his district and job searching and I don't want to spend an extra $1200 when we aren't ready to start trying again until he finds employment for next year.

Dr B was awesome about finding ways around this. We can do part of the above testing at a different lab that our insurance will pay for and then we just need to cover the $800 aspect, which I'm happy to do once he finds employment.

On its own, the deficiency shouldn't cause 4 losses so there's still something else happening. Still, it's nice to be closer to the cause. Chat Icon

UPDATE: Dr B called me this morning and they got the auto-immune preliminary testing back and it was positive. So, basically my body's been fighting the pregnancies and we need to know which cells are being mass produced in order to treat it. He said the level isn't so high that it indicates Lupus or anything too serious but this is definitely the issue. Hopefully in time, all this immune testing will tell him specifically what so he can treat it. It sounds like he's saying it's an easy fix though.

DH is pitching a fit about having more blood work taken Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

he was talking about the immune testing to me also and said that he was just researching ways to go around the cost for another patient so it was top of mind!! i probably am going to do it, but i have PPO insurance which dr. b says will cover everything except about $460.

That's so funny, yes that was me! That's great, because my insurance will cover everything except $772, not $460 but it might be a different insurance.

I know it's a lot of tests and money $$$$, but it is worth it. My Dh & I were so overwhelmed with the cost of everything. The Immune testing alone, costs a fortune. Once he has all results he will come up with best protocal for you!

Thinking of you!!!

i have united PPO. he specifically said it had to be a PPO plan to get the $460, otherwise the costs are different. not sure if the $460 is exact or just a guesstimate though.

what preliminary testing did you do? are you doing the full immune workup?? DH and I decided we are going to do that now also rather than wait and see.

Hmm I have United, not sure if it's a PPO, my husband is a teacher. We are doing the bit that's covered now and the other part once he finds a new job for next year. I have zero issue spending the money one we know we won't be living off savings.
