Texting? Texted?"
Ok so people use the text message function on their phones - I do too.
When the word "text" is used as a verb, it gets very confusing for me.
Present tense:
I prefer:
"I am sending a text message." over "I am texting."
Past tense:
I prefer
"I sent a text message" over "I texted..." (TEXTED??????) or "I text messaged."
It is anarchy I tell you.

Re: Texting? Texted?"
I guess it kinda goes along with...
"I am writing you..."
or
"I am emailing you..."
I am guilty.

Re: Texting? Texted?"
I do way too much TM. I usually say " I texted her before." It does sound odd I guess, but it's become part of my vocabulary.

Re: Texting? Texted?"
Don't feel bad... the teacher in me still has a hard time if people use tm "lingo" in their messages. Spelling and grammar issues pain me.

Re: Texting? Texted?"
I started randomly saying "tex mex" and "tex mexed" - no clue why, but it's a habit now!

Re: Texting? Texted?"
Personally I don't see a problem with using 'text' and 'email' as verbs and nouns. I can see why you are a bit against the whole change thing and prefer 'send' as the verb, b/c it is new and stuff and it takes time to get used to it. At least they are regular verbs and not irregular.

Re: Texting? Texted?"
I think it is just a sign of the times and perhaps a sign of getting older.

Yeah, maybe.
I remember in a linguistics course I took, the topic of text and internet language came up. My professor was convinced that the word 'you' will evolve and become 'u' and one day we will have a plural for 'you' like 'yous' or 'y'all'. I wonder if this will happen. In Dutch they use 'u' for 'you'.
