thank you letter question
i recently went on an interview in which i met with the HR manager and the manager in the department in which i am looking to work.
I sent both a thank you e-mail just because i didn't want my letter delayed in the mail; and to show my immediate interest in the position. So now 2 days later; i put a formal thank you letter in the mail for the manager of the deparment for the position. Should I also send a thank you letter in the mail for HR?
Not sure if it's necessary since maybe HR is not the one making the final decision?
Just not sure how to go about doing it. Of course it doesn't hurt to mail the letter to HR; it will only cost $.44!

Re: thank you letter question
No it's fine, you don't have to send it to HR too. It's most likely that the hiring manager is making the final decision.

ok thanks! I figured the e-mail to HR would be enough since the department manager is probably the one that ultimately makes the final decision!
Is it normal to not get a response to my thank you e-mail? I didn't get a notification failure so i'm sure they got it. Guess they're just in the process of making their final decisions.

Re: thank you letter question
i am personally a fan of hard copy thank yous rather than emails to everyone, unless i know a decision is being made immediately. I don't think anyone would think twice about getting a card 1-2 days later.
In my experience I have very rarely received a response to my thank you card. I like to follow up with an email 1- 1.5 weeks after my thank you to see if the employer has any questions for me.
