Turns out my flight on Delta WAS indeed completely CANCELLED with no alternate flight....
I now have to spend an additional $100 to change my flights to AA....

OMG that is horrible!!! Did they offer you no alternative? Where were you flying? I can't believe no alternative!!! That is just incredible. I'm really scared with out trip - we plan to get there when the desk opens - but we ended up staying one extra night just to come home.

I hope you have better luck with AA - I have had good experiences with them in the past. $100 isn't good - but we looked to switch to Jet Blue or some of the other airlines and the price was now $1200 with no morning flights available or so when we paid only about $850 for the three of us.

Yeah, the alternative was come home a day early or a day later.
We're going to Punta Cana, DR.
Never using Delta again, they have secured a spot on my blacklist.....
The only positive in this is that our flight is an hour later in the morning now (9:45 instead of 8:30) and we now have nonstop both ways instead of just the departing flight.....

Really though, thanks again, I caught it before the TA even did, she apologized like crazy!

WOW - so glad it got corrected! We ended up staying an extra night and taking a very early flight home - which worked out okay I guess as it gives us the full last day and we will spend the last night at the hyatt at the airport so we can just roll out of bed and go.

We took AA too to go to DR.
