I'm saying this respectfully and not to be snarky because I really do want to understand how others think around this...I'm totally not looking for drama.
If you are still concerned even though you are fully vaccinated and most likely have a booster too- and even children are now eligible to be vaccinated- when do you think you will not be concerned? Like what will be the tipping point to say- ok I feel back to normal now like I did in 2019?
Because i have seen people say they "aren't doing indoor dining....yet" And my thought is ok, fair enough...but at this point, when vaccines and boosters are widely available if you are still not comfortable say, indoor dining at a restaurant or gathering with family on a holiday when WILL you be?
Like I'm just curious what the end game will be. The point where people feel comfortable again.
Maybe it's never- and if that's the answer fine- I just kind of wanted to hear other's thought processes here.
Honestly, we may never go back to the way it was in 2019. I may never feel safe in crowded places with unvaccinated and unmasked. Not saying everyone should feel as I feel, but unfortunately, that is where I am at right now.
Thanks. You're absolutely entitled to feel that way. I was just curious to hear people's opinions and reasoning.

It’s interesting that some feel like this and some live like 2019 and have been for awhile. I wonder if some are more persuaded than others by scare tactics in the media. Just watched something about a “super spreader” in Las Vegas. Ridiculous as 9 people got Covid out of 17,000. How in the world did they call that a SS but to just scare people.

You need to understand that different people live different lives. It isn’t just scare tactics by the media.
I, for one, have personally enjoyed social distancing in real life. Personal space is different in different cultures. I love that I do not have someone breathing down my neck at the supermarket or on the bus like it used to be. I haven’t had to be the victim to someone’s farts or bad breath in public because of distance and masks. I love that things aren’t so crowded. I never liked that anyway and put up with it only a few times a year for certain festivals.

YES!!!, the standing on top of one another on a line in a store. THAT I will take FOREVER to stand far from me lol.
I guess it all depends on what you do and where you go as I have been to many crowded places and it doesn't bother me but I guess it would before this for many others.

So where are people hearing about cases and stories like the "super spreader" like I heard last night? If not the media, then misinformation or scare tactics from family and friends.
When you are around more people who are living life as normal as they can, it is easier to not fall into the control some are allowing their lives to be taken by.
Why ANY.ONE would listen to someone who they never met and don't know them and never will, tell them they can't spend a holiday with their family and friends is beyond me.

Good lord. I refuse to watch the news. Haven't in almost 15 years b/c when I was pregnant with my first DS there was a kidnapping in our area of a young boy that looked SO MUCH like my nephew... I had literal panic attacks. Refused then to ever watch the news. So, my feelings and views should not be diminished or belittled by continuing to assume it's b/c the media is scaring me. I have medical professionals in my life, very close to me, that are living this first hand. They aren't scared b/c of the media, they are concerned and realize the situation is a scary health crisis. They're tired. Frustrated. These are my family and friends, not the media.

That is not good either. You need to see SOME news as bad as it might be. You can choose when to turn off or stop reading but that is why many don't know what is going on around them or in the country and world as they are not informed.
So their hospitals are overwhelmed now? Many still dying of covid?
I know many medical professionals too and honestly, they are over this. Even the doctor I see weekly for my covid test is hoping companies stop this. The majority of my nurse friends don't even want the vaccine and don't want their kids to get it.

You seem to really have such distrust and feelings of people being controlled and you seem to see things in black and white only. At least on here anyway.
That being said, many people have the ability to decipher news and critically think about something. It doesn’t mean they are being controlled and being scared by friends and family.

Nope I just have common sense and see what has been going on. The things that make absolutely no sense others just follow blindly. Many are scared and you can see it on this site alone. It just goes to show you that government knows that they can share and tell many to jump and they will ask how high without even questioning it.

"It isn’t just scare tactics by the media."
I don't need to do anything. My point is that my feelings are NOT due to scare tactics by the media. I'll live my life and you live yours. Thanks.
Exactly, we all have to live our own lives and should not be pressured or mandated to do some things. Many are losing out on life though as they are listening to media or friends or family or whomever and get incorrect information or just persuaded to do things other do even without questioning things.
I have a friend who is very immune compromised. I am so happy she is getting out now as (not sure if she heard rumors and believed it) she wouldn't even go sit in her backyard last summer for fear of getting covid. As much as a homebody she is, that is no way to live life and I can tell she is so much happier now meeting with friends and family.

If you truly believed we all needed to do what was best for US, you would not be so consumed with why some of us choose to be cautious and considerate of other people besides ourselves. You would not be so concerned with telling me I NEED to watch some news. You don't truly believe we should do what is best for us. That's obvious from your posts.

Best for us meaning that there should not be mandates and pressures to get a vaccine. People should not be called selfish for not getting a vaccine as well as being shunned from doing things. ESPECIALLY when many, many people get covid WITH the vaccine.
How do you know what is going around you in your own town or state or country or world if you don't watch or read the news?

Sorry to hear that. I know people who avoid it too and it is hard to have conversations with them as they always never know what is going on, let it be right in their own town or world news. Too much is bad, absolutely. I am constantly turning off the news lately as I am sick of the same junk. Other things I am glued to.

Drop it. For my mental health I stay away from news. Period. Not going to change and I already explained why I do not.
Sorry to hear that. I know people who avoid it too and it is hard to have conversations with them as they always never know what is going on, let it be right in their own town or world news. Too much is bad, absolutely. I am constantly turning off the news lately as I am sick of the same junk. Other things I am glued to.
Well, if all i ever talked about was media scare tactics, news events and conspiracy theories I would see how that could be hard to have conversations too.

"It isn’t just scare tactics by the media."

I am speaking of normal things in the news. Heck one guy I worked with had NO clue it was going to snow one time. It was like don't you watch or listen to the news? He was like no. Happy medium. Being too sheltered is not good either.

I am speaking of normal things in the news. Heck one guy I worked with had NO clue it was going to snow one time. It was like don't you watch or listen to the news? He was like no. Happy medium. Being too sheltered is not good either.
Oh ye with all the answers.
Nope not all the answers but many since I keep myself up to date with things. Never a bad thing
me wish me smart as informed as you
Aww you could be. Just put some news sites on your FB and IG (you ARE allowed to have those now, right?) and watch a few minutes of TV per day, talk to friends and family. That's all

"It isn’t just scare tactics by the media."

That's all
You really are an a**hole. Ignorant, closed minded, a**hole.
Actually I am very open minded. Shrug.
Not really.
Try that driving around in your husband’s mustang or your brand new car with bells and whistles.
Ummm o.kay ???
Think you have me confused with Hofstra.
