Wow! Ok, I didn't realize this post would get this much attention and totally forgot about it.
Maybe I didn't explain myself. My main reason is bc my 10 year old is due for the 2nd vaccine the next day. I am not afraid of Covid, but didn't want him to be exposed when he will be getting the shot the very next day. I love my sister, but yes, she can be careless and selfish so when I just said... how many people will be there she didn't know. That is fine, but then she has to understand her kids coming from a dinner elsewhere with lots of family member then going to the next house and so on is a lot of exposure. I will wait till he is fully vaccinated then make plans.
Again... it's just so he can get his vaccine the next day.
ETA - and yes, I do know vaccinated can still get Covid and still spread it. Again, it's about all having to stay home after. Last time we were together my boys missed the first week of school.
If you are exposed to Covid it takes days before you are contagious and then a couple more days before you are actually sick. If people go from place to place on Thanksgiving they are not catching it at one house and then spreading it at another. It is completely impossible. The only way they are spreading it is if they were exposed a couple days before. So caring how many people they saw immediately before seeing you is unnecessary. Still, it is a lot of people to expose your son to, but again it's not like he is going to get exposed and get sick within 24 hours and not be able to get the shot. That's just not how it works.
And he can easily get exposed to any of the people you are currently visiting unless they have been quarantined for 14 days or took a Covid test.
Unless you really don’t care about going or it’s not a huge deal to you, if you miss it, then I wouldn’t skip it for the reason you said.
Same.
My friend's daughter tested positive after her first shot - it doesn't impact the shot - it just means you have to quarantine.
But like the others said - anyone could make you have to quarantine.
My son had to quarantine from school for the first time ever this year because he was exposed from a kid who was vaccinated. You never know.
The only thing that made it worse, was that the kids who were vaccinated and exposed could go back school the following day. It was so stupid.
It makes absolutely no sense. At my job if you are vaccinated you only have to show your card once and then you are fine. If you are unvaccinated you need to test weekly. Sooooo the people who are testing KNOW they are not sick but the vaccinated who are not, do not and could be spreading it around.
Even better...my SIL was fully vaccinated in April. At a recent doctor appt she asked for an antibody test just to see. 0. She's at 0. 6 months later But her vaccine card is still valid for her job, not having to quarantine, travel, NYC life etc. She has the same antibodies as me...0. But she has all the rights the vaccinated have. Makes sooooo much sense!
Yup. I ask this all the time. Many don’t want the booster so that means you won’t be vaccinated either. It all makes no sense.
