Thanksgiving Day travel
For those who've driven west on the LIE after Thanksgiving dinner, how bad is the traffic usually?
I'm flying out of JFK late on Thanksgiving night and I'm not sure how much extra time to leave.

I was just having this conversation with my mother,s eh was asking if we usually hit a lot of traffic & I can't recall being stuck in bad traffic on Thanksgiving. Christmas, Easter, and summer Sundays are usually worse.
I go from Eastern Nassua to the Whitestone bridge, usually about 9pm.

I would say you'll be fine. The island pretty much dies after the Thanksgiving Eve rush. I live west of my in-laws and have never hit traffic on Thanksgiving day.
