Re: Thanksgiving Ideas
we have 1/2 day so we are having a Thanksgiving breakfast with bagels and apple juice. Then, I have a Thanksgiving story that I am going to read and show them a video. I also have some Thanksgiving puzzles for them to do.

Re: Thanksgiving Ideas
maybe not THE most exciting thing... and not sure what age you teach, but as langugae arts thing, i've done a venn diagram comparing the first thanksgiving with thanksgiving now. you could maybe extend it into a role playing thing of the first thanksgiving??

This is a good idea, though!
I made a turkey body and they will trace both hands, color and then glue so that their hands are the feathers to the turkey.

Re: Thanksgiving Ideas
I teach 1st grade (CTT)
I had them make hand turkeys the feathers listed things they are thankful fo then attached this poemr:
This isn't just a turkey, as anyone can see. I made it with my hand, which is part of me. It comes with lots of love, especially to say, I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving Day!
I also did a lesson on the native americans and the pilgrims what they wore what they ate what the indians did for the native americans and then they created their own native american paper dolls. they came out really cuite (they used yarn for hair) http://www.makingfriends.com/friends/f+native_american.htm
i also found a sheet of native american pictures that have meaning and i gave them a strip of paper and they copied some they liked and I attached it to their paperdolls
