Thanksgiving Meals--Anything Odd
Does anyone make or have someone make something that is not on the "traditional" menu for Thanksgiving?
Nothing really over here. My husband and kids don't like pumpkin pie, and while there are other desserts at the home we are going to, we are bringing a favorite of my husbands that we just discovered.

We're going to a vegan Thanksgiving event - we do it every year. It's done by a restaurant so it's all really tasty! Especially the black bean brownies!

The only odd thing may be Yorkshire Pudding.

My family is Italian so we have four courses. Antipasto, pasta & sauce with meatballs, sausage and ribs, traditional turkey/potatoes/stuffing/veggies, and then dessert.

Re: Thanksgiving Meals--Anything Odd
We have had eggplant parm in the past when we had a larger group (in addition to turkey, etc).
Is salad normal? We have a salad with everything, so I didn't think it was odd, but I have recently learned that not everyone does that, because there are other vegetables.
We have people that don't like pie, so I'm making brownies, but I don't think that is weird. It's just not traditionally associated with thanksgiving.. I think most people have an "other" dessert. Ice cream, cookies, etc.

We are a large Italian family- so we have a big Antipasto, we're making pizzas in the Ooni, a pasta course (but no meat in the sauce), then we have all the traditional TG food, plus veggies like roasted peppers, stuffed artichokes and broccoli Rabe.

My husband’s family must have meatballs, which doesn’t sound odd except they’re not Italian. My FIL associates meatballs (regular old Italian meatballs in red sauce) with thanksgiving.
I’m half Italian and they were shocked when I said my family didn’t eat meatballs on thanksgiving. SHOCKED.

We are bringing a Banana cake. No chucks of banana but it is so good. It’s our go to lately when visiting friends lol

Re: Thanksgiving Meals--Anything Odd
Nothing odd for us. Sometimes we do a ham in addition to the turkey and that is super odd for my inlaws but that’s because they are Jewish and not used to eating pork.
