Thanksgiving Menus

I was wondering what everyone is making. This is the first year DH and I are hosting Thanksgiving and I am trying to figure out what to make.

Re: Thanksgiving Menus

We usually have turkey, stuffing, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce.

We have a small family - so that's usually it for us! Plus appetizers and desserts of course.

Re: Thanksgiving Menus

I do breakfast and apps the day of too, since everyone gets to us (in NJ) early to avoid traffic coming from LI. When I say breakfast, I mean, bagels, cream cheese, lox, sliced tomatos. Nothing fancy and it's help yourself.

My menu:

Turkey
Cornbread and chestnut stuffing
Mashed Potatos
Some sort of sweet potatos - usually roasted
Cranberry Sauce
Green Bean Casserole - My family would go balistic if I didn't make it.
Avocado and tomato salad
Maybe another veggie like steamed broccoli or cauliflower

Dessert -
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Crisp
DH usually makes a delish fruit salad w/homemade whipped cream
Everyone usually brings a ton of desserts as well.

Mmmm...I'm going to steal your hot apple cider idea. Sounds SO good with a Thanksgiving dinner. Do you have a recipe?

I like this recipe from Barefoot Contessa for Hot Mulled Cider. I'm thinking maybe serving it with dessert. Not sure, yet.

Ingredients

* 16 cups pure apple juice or fresh apple cider
* 4 (2-inch) cinnamon sticks
* 2 oranges, peels and juice
* 8 whole cloves
* 6 star anise

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes. Pour into mugs and serve.

William Sonoma also sells Mulling Spices (already prepared and ready to go) that you just put into a big tea ball or cheesecloth and heat the cider with it. It is delicious!!!
