The Car Seat / Stroller confusion
Being a first time mommy-to-be, I am completely confused about the whole car seat/ stroller issue.
Do most people now get a car seat that also can be taken out and snapped into a matching stroller frame?
If so, is the car seat/ matching stroller for infants only? What do people then buy for when the baby gets bigger? Do they also register for a car seat for when they are older, or no?? What about stroller for when they get older??
Sorry Im so lost on this!! Im just trying to get a grasp of what most people do.

Re: The Car Seat / Stroller confusion
Most people in the suburbs buy an infant carseat that snaps into a stroller frame (snap and go). When the baby gets bigger, you usually use a different stroller.
We just splurged on the Orbit Infant System today. It costs a small fortune but I thought it was really cute.

there are infant seats and there are convertible car seats.
infant seats can come out of the car, which is SUPER convenient, especially when the baby is sleeping.
there are cheap frames you can buy to put the infant seat on, which are light and convenient and easy to use. i used the infant seat / frame combo for the first year of my son's life, so it was well worth it.
when the baby surpasses 22 pounds or so (depending on the infant seat's limit), you get a convertible car seat, which doesn't leave the car. at that point, you'll need a separate stroller.
make sense?

Re: The Car Seat / Stroller confusion
i didnt like the "look" of the "snap and go" so i opted for a "TRAVEL SYSTEM"...which is the car seat that will be good till the baby is about 7-9 months depending on weight and when ill wanna switch seats...a base that goes with that seat for the car so it can snap in the car easily..and a pretty durable stroller, that the seat can snap into, on top, and then when i no longer use that car seat, i will STILL be able to use the stroller...
i did this with my ds when he was a baby (ten long years ago) but it worked great and i got YEARS of usage out of the stroller

Re: The Car Seat / Stroller confusion
We have the Graco Snugride carseat with the Snap 'n Go for DS. He is almost 7 months old, so he is on the verge of being to big for it. We have the Graco Metrolite stroller and the Britax Marathon for when that day comes.

Re: The Car Seat / Stroller confusion
I registered for the Graco snugride and the separate snap stroller because a few mothers told me it was the one to get and they loved it. Then I registered for a separate stroller (peg preggo p3). For a car seat once I can't use the snugride I registered for the britax marathon.

Thank you so much ladies, your advice is a big help! Now I see things a little clearer as far as what to register for.
