Re: The children of Slumdog Millionaire
It is very sad... I wish they thought about this before making the movie I feel like the parents didn't know any better, but to just allow their kids to be in it without having any kind of "contracts"

Re: The children of Slumdog Millionaire
I'm not trying to sound mean or anything but IMO there's something wrong with this story.
I just feel like there's more to this than is being reported.
I feel bad for those kids...
ETA: What is this statement about??
Social workers have called for the children to be placed in care and state that they need to be given protection – either from Danny Boyle and the film production company or the Indian authorities.
Can someone elaborate?

Re: The children of Slumdog Millionaire
My husband was telling me that he saw something on the news about the father beating the child. The one that played the 10 year old Jamal....he didnt want to see the photographers, he just wanted to go to sleep and the father beat him. Did anyone else hear that?

It says that at the bottom of the article.
I feel like the kids were used Doesn't sit right with me....like they were kind of taken advantage of....they should be compensated more because it was a big hit, no one was standing up for them before because lack of $ and education

Re: The children of Slumdog Millionaire
It is a sad reality. These children live in poverty- like so many children around the world.
They really should have thought about the affect of taking these children to the Oscars. They were really used for the publicity.
And I do hope these children and their families get teh homes they were promised. But knowing Hollywood- unless there is a press crew there, it won't happen.

Re: The children of Slumdog Millionaire
Why would you be so cruel as to take innocent children from a poverty-stricken slum, dress them up, feed them, make them famous, expose them to someplace like DISNEY, and then return them to their poverty? I mean, that is just EVIL.
