The Dive From Clausen's Pier

Was recently a Lifetime movie, too. It turned out to be good, but was very upsetting in the beginning! Anyone read it?

Yes - I loved that book. Whenever they make books into TV movies they are usually disappointing. The actors in that movie really bugged me.

I haven't seen the movie either, but the book was really depressing, but it really made you think.

I didn't see the movie, but liked the book a lot. I especially liked it because it didn't have the usual predictable ending and I felt like I really got to understand the main character.

I read it when it first came out, it was really engrossing and the end upset me a little, but I think it was more realistic because of the author's choice.

I was upset at the end too. Without giving too much away, I just didn't understand what led to Carrie & Mike's outcome. We never really found out what happened before the accident. Or was it just that they never really knew any other love? Since they started dating as young teenagers?

Well, in the beginning, she basically says she is doubting whether or not she wants to marry him - even before the accident happened. She says that things are not the same between them and I got the feeling that she was thinking of calling off the engagement. Then Mike had his accident and the whole rest of the story unfolds.
