The end of naps

Hannah is consistenly refusing naps at school and now it has spilled into home. the thing is she still needs the nap. when she comes home from school she is super cranky and irritable. at school if she doesnt sleep they turn on the tv.

for the last few days i have been off and trying to get her to nap again and all she does is cry in the crib, to the point of making herself throwup.

do you think that she has learned that if she doesnt nap she gets tv?

and did anyone elses dc resume napping after a nap strike?Chat Icon

Re: The end of naps

My son stopped napping at two, he has a nap at daycare (for about an hour) but at home he doesn't nap.

I would be concerned that they let your child watch TV at daycare. Of course she knows what she wants and she now knows how to get it! Can you ask them to not let her watch TV?

We are still holding strong to the naps over here...
Bella definitely needs them, and does fight them from time to time...although she does go without usually once a week now and it's not as deadly as it once was...

She has been known to have a nap strike here and there at daycare, but TV isn't an option. Is quiet play (coloring, reading) an option?

Re: The end of naps

I know when Marron was going to daycare she never napped as well as she did at home. I agree that I think she has learned that she can watch TV if she refuses to nap. I think you need to insist that TV not be an option instead of a nap. If she is just given a book or something in her crib at daycare (and home), maybe she'll get bored enough to start napping again. Good luck. I know how precious that naptime is!
