The Fire Department was just here and now I am afraid to go to sleep
Around 9:45pm my carbon minoxide detector went off and it read 45......we call PETRO and they say call the fire dept so they come and there readings were between 8 and 15
I have a 7 week old baby and my 1 1/2 yr old nephw 5 and 10 yr old DDs in the house I am a nervous wreck now
the PETRO guy came and tested and everything is ok with the burner and all readings are now at zero but HOW SCARY IS THIS???????
I keep checking all the kids to make sure they are breathing

That is scary.
Better for the detector to be overly sensitive than not sensitive enough.
Tomorrow, if you can, send DH out to home depot or lowes to get a new one. If I remember correctly, they are not that expensive.

that happened to us a few weeks ago and we were told out detector went bad. So we bought a new one and everything is fine now

Could be a bad detector or a bad battery. Get a new one to make yourself feel safe.

how many are you supposed to have in your house and at what locations... when we moved in there was one right outside the bathroom, but it would go off whenever anyone showered... so we took it down and have yet to re-install them... i know this is horrible, this post reminded me to get on top of this asap!

You should defininately have one on the highest floor because CO rises.
Ours went off last summer and the fire dept came out in full force with their gear and everything. DS was really scared when he saw them all. It was determined it went off because they were mowing the lawn in our complex and the fumes got sucked into the A/C which I was running.

my dad used a torch when he was installing our water heater yesterday and thats what did it but I was so worried because the baby is soooo small and her little lungs cant take too much
I am happy to own my own house but also scared because I am a GROWN UP NOW and responsible for my childrens lives
