The great name debate. What do you think?

So DH and I sat down to think of names, we each went through books and picked out names we liked. We came up with some nice possibilities for a girl. It seems we are rather narrow-minded on boy names though. Well, I REALLY like one name in particular and of course, after seeing how much I like it, DH says "I hate that name, it's dumb." [He says this after I mention how I could see the name grow up and be an attorney or accountant...basically, the name made me think of a successful person.] Anyway, so he sulked and insisted that name will not be used.

Meanwhile, he keeps bringing up this name HE likes and has decided that's THE name if IT is a boy. Well, I don't love the name so I say to him, why not use your name and my name together? He thinks that is stupid since he hates my name. I think it's a fair compromise...a name he REALLY likes and one I REALLY like.

I don't want to be a b*tch and just go with the old standby of "I carried it, I pushed it out..."

Just wondered if others think my idea is a fair compromise. [his name was the first name btw.]

Well with a husband who thinks the first name Senator is a great name I feel your pain! We are not pG but have kind of picked names that we can agree on. I think your compromise is fair unless you absolutely HATE the name he picked. If that is the case I would say wait until you agree on a name.

If my husband 100% refused to budge and hated my name I choose, I would keep looking.

There must be other ways to compromise. Name is a HUGE thing.

This was a big issue for the both of us because we would both spit out names and neither would agree. And it wasn't like "hmm, no I don't like it". It was more like "no way! I am not naming my kid THAT" kinda reactions.
It was weird though - once we found out it was a girl, we immediately agreed on the name Leah and it stuck. He really liked it, and I thought it was pretty too. I kinda gave into him making him feel like "he" picked the name - so in the end, we both won and we both like the name.
