The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
Has anyone use the nicotine patch? I wuit smoking saturday night. My last ciggabutt was @ 7:15pm. We went to our friends house and they had the nicotine patches and did not need them so they gave them to me.
My friend had only used 3 of them and said he had crazy nightmares while sleeping with it on. We got home around 2am sat ngiht and i went to bed. I could not fall asleep to save my life. i finally fell asleep but i was not having nightmares but i just had a really crazy dream and kept waking up in the middle of the night. Last night i went to bed around 9:00. I was so tired. I did not fall asleep til about 1:30 int he morning. Has this happened to anyone else? I just cant fall asleep.
Let me tell you this is the hardest thing i have ever done. I want to quit but it is so hard. And DH has not made this any easier for me, yet he wanted me to quit for teh longest time. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..................

Re: The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
I used the patch and never slept with it. I mean its not like you smoke in your sleep so dont bother at night. JUST DONT SMOKE WITH IT. I know someone who was 34 yrs old, smoked with the patch on (stupid) and dropped dead of a stroke. It will still be in your system for 24-48 hrs after you take it off, so still dont smoke. Its mind over matter after a week I didnt need them anymore.
Sadly they didnt last as I smoke still.

Re: The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
Today is 8 weeks of no smoking for me. I used the patch and still do on and off. It really works and it is mind over matter. I did not sleep with the patch on I take it off every night before I go to sleep. One night I forgot to take it off and I had the worst nightmares. Good luck.

Re: The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
I used the patch. I started with the 21mg. Then went to the 14mg. Stayed on that for 5 months then to 7mg.. I feel the patch really works. I believe the no sleeping is withdrawal. I did have weird, vivid dreams, but only in the beginning. Keep up the great work. It is a major accomplishment. I also started eating sunflower seeds. GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
I am not using the patch but I am taking Chantix, and I have been having the dreams too. A lot of people who take this also report the dreams, so I have to think that the dreams really have nothing to do with the patch or the pills, but the withdrawal. Good luck!

Re: The Nicotine Patch....Sorry a little long
When I used them to quit before my wedding, I also had crazy dreams so I used to take it off right before bed and put it back on again as soon as I got up. If it is causing you to have insomnia I would try taking it off at bed time.
Good luck!
