Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
I honestly think she needs psychological help, and that the doc that helped her do this should lose his license. I don't know what they should do about all her children.

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
I think the media should leave her completely alone. I had to leave a baby in the hospital for 1 week. I can't even fathom having reporters question me as I go back & forth on that emotional rollercoaster.
I do think she needs psychological help - and that her children, regardless of their parentage, deserve the best care. Yes, it's a shame it's all on the tax payer's dime.
As for her home, I think she should go into the system like everyone else losing their homes, take advantage of whatever the stimulus package is offering & if she winds up in public housing so be it. If anyone wants to help her out financially that's their own business. She better be prepared to pay tax on those "gifts".
I also think the doctor who allowed her to transfer so many embryos should lose his license. It was a huge risk he took. He jeopardized all of the babies by allowing her to transfer 6 embryos when she had a high success rate before. The disabilities these children willl have haven't even surfaced yet.

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
they should absolutely NOT be taken from her, chances are they will wind up in a foster home where they are not treated well the babies need to stay with their mom, but she is going to need a lot of help, both financially and mentally

While I do think she needs help (mental) I also do believe that they are beating a dead horse with this one.
Leave her alone already...JMO
and no I don't think they should take them away from her.

I agree. I don't think she should be given movie, book offers, etc. I think the media is giving her what she wants - public attention. I find her despicable and feel very bad for her brood of children.

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
All 14 of her children should be taken away from her. This woman is a mental case. She is already living on public assistance in her parents 2 bedroom apartment. Those children deserve so much more than a mother who has lied and lied and lied her way through each and every single interview she has given so far. She talks about her "dysfunctional family" when she was growing up, meanwhile, she had (from what her parents are saying) a VERY normal childhood. All 14 of her children deserve SO much more.
Just my opinion. She is a nut.

I'm surprised at how many said she should have her children taken away. Prior to having 14 children, she had 6. 6 that were taken care of without CPS being called in for "neglect" etc. Who are we to say she can't raise 14 kids? Of course she will have help with them for a while, just like the Gosselin's and other parents of mulitples did.

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
i think people should leave her alone already. what done is done. instead of the media trying to bashing her. they are her children. if she needs help its for the children. millons of children are on foodstamps and get medical help. instead of them saying she leaving off such as such. they should relize it will help them

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
There are plenty of peope who have more kids then they can afford and we aren't taking their kids away. I think the media needs to leave her alone. My biggest issue is the doctor who let this happen. To me that is gross malpractice.

Re: the octo mom (the lady that had 8 babies)
C'mon now...leave her alone??? Shes putting herself out there. Someone who wants to be left alone would do just that...be left alone. Shes not hiding from the cameras...shes smiling for them. In fact, some of you are right, she shouldnt have the children taking away for the mere factor that she "cant handle 14"...she should have them taken away because she is point blank...IMATURE. The way she presents herself even on these tapings is plain immature. I am not for taking the 6 away bc that will only devestate the children. They know mama...mamas #1. Regardless of good or bad...this is all they know. Now the other 8, I am unsure what to do. BUT again, she made a VERY immature decision. As for the DR, buh-bye all you worked hard for.

Lots of kids slip through the system and CPS is never called. I know. I teach them. I report instances of possible neglect and abuse as a mandated reporter.
The difference between her and the Gosselin's are that there were TWO incomes versus NONE. Im also pretty sure that the Gosselin's conceived through IUI and not IVF. The chances for multiples are different IUI than they are for IVF even with medication. Most fertility clinics boast having stats with FEWER sets of multiples than greater. It is a much greater risk.
That is a huge reason why I was never given meds in my IUI cycles. My RE did NOT want me to have multiples. My age and the fact that there were 5 sets of twins in the past 6 generations in my family was a huge factor. With meds, I could have been Nadya Suleman and ya know what? I would have had to selectively reduce (opening up an entire other controversy).
The mere fact that a doctor transferred 6 embryos, IMO is gross negligence. He endangered the life of his patient and the children she carried. The mere fact that a woman without a job, with 6 children (one to my knowledge with disabilities) made a conscious decision to risk having 6 MORE kids ending up with 8 more, demonstrates EXTREMELY poor decision making and reasoning skills. There is no question in my mind that perhaps her needs are a bit more special than other parents of multiples.
Should they be taken away? I don't know. It isn't for me to say, but I'll be damned if I am going to be happy to see the tax dollars of hard working people such as myself who STRUGGLED to have children (and have the resources to do it) go to support this dolt because she didn't like being an only child. If anything, I would give money in trust to those kids and not let Ms. Suleman see a single dime.
