The Other Boleyn Girl: The Movie
In AM new York this morning, I read that there will be a movie version, with Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Eric Bana.

Ok-- this is like one of my FAVE books and I am obssessed with it and have been waiting for this movie to be cast... Natalie and Bana are confirmed according to IMDB-- and RUE McCLANAHAN-- W*T*F??
But-- i am SUPER excited.. Cannot wait-- I heart Scarlett and I am sure she'll be a great Mary!

Ok, I just looked it up. Rue is suppose to play Lady Jane Rochford, who was Ann's sister in law. Ann's brother was only a few years older so his wife was about the same age as Ann and Mary.
How they cast Natalie Portman to play Ann and Rue MaClanahan to play Jane I will never know

Re: The Other Boleyn Girl: The Movie
Rue McClanahan was great at being a snooty Souterner- I bet she'll be good at being a snooty Brit!
Before I knew who was playing who, I'd pegged Scarlett Johanssen for Anne- she seems more vixen-ish and Natalie Portman seems to be like more of an innocent. But maybe that will make it more interesting...
I am VERY excited for this movie!

I am sure she will be and I personally love Blanche Deveroux. Unfortunatelly, she is about 50 years too old to play the role of Jane

Re: The Other Boleyn Girl: The Movie
I cannot wait-- I swear-- I checked IMDB like twice a week to check movie updates.
I read the book so long ago now that I couldn't remember who Jane was-- Jane was supposed to young, and pretty- but frigid.. so, I don't understand how Rue is right-- that has got to be some sort of screw up on IMDBs part. There are many other crucial parts that don't seem to be cast yet.

Yeah, maybe it is a mistake- and isn't like, every other woman from that era named Jane? Maybe she'll be playing their mother? It's got to be a mistake.

Yes, i think it IS a mistake! Rue is probably suppose to play Anne's and MAry's Grandmother. She was a prominant figure!
