The poop in the pants is KILLING ME - PT related
I am apparently a mess these last couple of days from all of these posts.
I can't take cleaning up the poop in the underwear anymore. I don't yell at him, I don't get mad, I just remind him that poops happen on the toilet. He doesn't care that they are in his underwear, I have to chase him down to change it.
This is the 3rd time he's pooped TODAY (I just cleaned him less than an hour ago)
When will this craziness stop?

would he poop in a pull up?
that's what we do with dd. she can poop on the potty and has done it, but I'd rather her poop in a pull up then not at all.

LOL - Janice, you friggin kill me!
I'm sure he would go in a pullup but he's pretty much pee trained so I don't want to go backwards and put one on him.
How do I get it to click that he needs to go on the toilet?

I am sorry its such a pain in the arse, but my general opinion is if he isn't ready, and he keeps having accidents, why keep pushing it? Put him back in pull ups etc...maybe he just isn't ready!
This is coming from someone whose son wasn't potty trained until a month before his 4th birthday, but once he was ready, he didn't have any accidents. zero!
Good luck!!!

If he was still bad with peeing I would throw in the towel all together right now, but he's really doing great with peeing that I think a pullup would confuse him

Re: The poop in the pants is KILLING ME - PT related
Ryan doesn't have poop accidents anymore but we literally are on his arse when we know it's coming. Now it's clicking.
Initially, he would hold for a few days and if you left him alone for a second he'd go.
Then I knew it was coming and at first sign of him trying to go I'd pull down his pants mid poop and make him finish on the potty.
Now he sits there endlessly (usually when I have to leave for work!) and will go with the motivation of his potty prize - he has to earn 10 stars to get what he wants (specifically he requested "an acoustic guitar, the one with strings" - yep, this from my 2.5 yr old!)
Anyway, do you make him complete the act on the potty? If he goes in his pants bring him to the toilet and dump it in together saying how disgusting it is in his underpants. I think he needs to understand it's nasty.

honestly, DD asks for one when she has to poop. she does her business and the underwear goes back on. I don't think it's confusing to her. She is just not ready to poop on the potty, but doesn't want to wear diapers.

same here. Logan does pretty well with peeing, but with the poops he will either go in his underwear or if he's not wearing anything he'll poop on my wood floor (at least it hasn't happened on my area rugs ) he surprises me tho and just about 10 minutes ago he pooped on the toilet without his potty seat on top. He's done that twice so far. I just don't know when it will click either for him. I'm with you, don't know what to do.

Jeremy refused to poop on the potty (he would wait until naps or bedtime and poop in the pull up then as we were putting one on him for bed). Once he sat on the regular potty and not the potty seat and never went back! We realized it wasn't the actual potty that freaked him out but the potty seat itself (we only had the rings that went on the actual toilet). He never looked back!

Re: The poop in the pants is KILLING ME - PT related
It took Lily about 2 months before she got the poop. She was more than happy to poop in her underwear at first.....then she got uncomfortable with it.....and eventually she started going on the potty. But it took a long time....and a lot of underwear washing!!! The worst was at my brother's house when she had an upset stomach.....I threw the dress out because the memory of it was too much for me!
Have you tried prizes? I think what helped LIly was that we told her if she pooped on the potty and not in her underwear for 4 days, she would get a prize (Princess Pez dispenser). We kept it where she could see it, and kept talking about it. Each day, we would count down to how many days she had left.....and she got it.

Maybe I will bring out his small potty - because the real toilet isn't doing it for him

Jack is the type of kid that would flip the F out if he didn't get a toy that he wanted that was right in front of him. I think it would totally backfire in my face and just cause a huge tantrum.

Re: The poop in the pants is KILLING ME - PT related
I'm exactly where you are so I know how you feel. There was one week where I cleaned 4 dirty underwears a day for most of the week. I was trying to figure out what I was feeding him that made him go so much. He's 100% potty trained with #1 even uses the preschool potty room for #1 but not with #2. I'm just going to keep at it and buy more underwear for school. Today he used the school potty for #1 I was so happy to see that note and it's telling me he's getting closer to being comfortable with #2. He's half way there like your son, hang in there!!
My advice would be to buy something like this for #2. Maybe he would like to sit on something like this. My son finds it very comfortable.
BabyBjorn potty seat
& leave him wandering around the home with no underwear. See if he will use the potty then or even in the backyard. My mom took my son out in her backyard with no underwear and he squated and did #2. May sound disgusting but at least he squated and went and it saved cleaning a dirty underwear.
