Re: The snow plow broke our mailbox...
that stinks!!! but they wont pay for it. do you have proof they did it?ike a video? and even then, I'm sure they are not required to pay for damages. most mailboxes are actually installed on town property anyway. I think the last foot between the rd and your lawn is actually town property.

Call the town. Last winter a plow damaged part of our driveway and they fixed it.

Re: The snow plow broke our mailbox...
I would call and tell them the plow knocked it down.
I am in NJ, but my mailbox isn't straight and I mentioned it to DH while my neighbor was outside and my neighbor said they will give us a new one.
I don't think you have anything to loose by calling and finding out.

Re: The snow plow broke our mailbox...
I'd give it a try. We haven't had any damage, but I would call if we did. Btw, in the Town of Smithtown, the first 8 to 10 feet is theirs. I can't remember which it is. They told me that when I put my fence in and they said it had to be x number of feet from the curb.
I keep waiting to see the plow damage my curb on the corner. They dump all the snow on my corner, I think it's only a matter of time.
