The ULTIMATE parental advice: A new PEARL from DH to Ed-lie

A lovely evening was spent in the company of some wonderful LIFers. Thanks to "Uncle Flatbread" , his heavyhanded-ness with a bottle of Lemoncello and a shot glass, just before bed, my DH had THIS advice for our daughter:

"Liquor before beer - never fear...
...Beer before liquor, never sicker...
...DRINK RESPONSIBLY!!!"

Poor dear Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Now DH is a pretty sturdy guy. I think he was trying to get in his last hurrah before his responsibility as a parent kicks in. As for me, I am a non-drinker to begin with - PG or not PG.

The whole thing is pretty darn funny when you consider that I met my DH the very first time I got drunk 20 years ago at a fraternity party up in college.

I agree. We should all be such responsible parents and teach our children this.

You should all know, I am NOT anti-alcohol. I have an occasional glass of wine - MAYBE every 6-10 months or so (Hollie can attest to that), but I really do not like the loss of control that I feel when I do it. I have a VERY low tolerance. Besides, it is so much more fun to mock drunk people when you are sober to have something to hang over their heads.

I actually CRAVE the loss of control...how sick am I?

I look forward to drinking again after the pg, although having an infant and being drunk are not conducive to one another...DH will have to take over while I indulge after this baby is born.

LOL. I think the last time I did shots of that stuff I threw up all over an ex-boyfriend's apartment. Ha! He deserved it though.

I truly think Ed should write a book and include all his pearls of wisdom. He can market it to new dads and dads-to-be. I can see the ads on Spike and FX now!
