Theresa Giudice to serve in "orange is the new black" prison
Can't believe they gave in to her request. So much for no special treatment. She's really going to learn her lesson now 
Real Housewife Teresa Giudice will be going to a jail that, like her old show, is famous on TV.
A judge announced Wednesday that the convicted fraudster will go to the federal prison facility which is the setting for the Netflix show “Orange is the New Black.”
The series is based on a memoir written by Piper Kerman — a stunning blonde who served 13 months at the Danbury, Conn., prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and money laundering.
Giudice had requested she be sent there after the judge struck down an earlier request by her lawyer to let her spend 12 months of her 15-month sentence at a halfway house.
Giudice and her husband, Joe, pleaded guilty in March, admitting they hid assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitted phony applications to get $5?million in mortgages and construction loans.

The thing is this prison is not a cake walk..its not Rikers but not a fluff prison either. If it is like portrayed on OITNB, its still going to be difficult for her to adapt.

There are two settings at Danbury. One is Low Security (which I think OITNB is based on) and Minimum Security which is "camp".
Teresa is going to the "camp" part. I dont think its going to be a breeze, but its certainly not Rikers!
I kinda wish she got harsher treatment. I feel like if that was me and my husband, we wouldn't get the preferential treatment to serve seperate times to take care of our kids or get sent to "camp"

Is there a way to legally garnish their furture wages? You KNOW she's going to a have a book deal, and movie and book tour and blah blah and will make an obscene amount of money 'telling her side of the story' .......
it makes me want to throw up - our society has become such an embarassment.

Is there a way to legally garnish their furture wages? You KNOW she's going to a have a book deal, and movie and book tour and blah blah and will make an obscene amount of money 'telling her side of the story' .......

No matter where she goes, the biggest punishment is being away from her children for over a year. That would be unimaginable for me.

ugh, I think andy cohen is just as big of a pos as some of the housewife cast members! I wonder where will Joe will serve his time?

Also, Caroline Manzo called this 3 years ago, if you listen to her 1:1 interview it's pretty foreshadowing and almost like everyone knew what they were up to.

I am from Danbury and know people who work in the prison.
They keep saying on Facebook "looks like me and Tre will be best buds".
Danbury itself is lovely. The prision is in a beautiful part of town (outside).
Also, The bureau of prisons absolutely lets prisoner's request where they go. I for one am glad its Danbury so she CAN see her kids. She deserves to serve her time, but if it makes it easier on the KIDS then fine. It was the right decision.
But no, this is not special treatment.

I think the only federal prison in NJ is Fort Dix which is male only (and closer to PA)

Exactly. It is very common ton request a prison. She's got four kids who shouldn't have to suffer more because of her mistakes. In the orange is the new black book, I got the impression that the Danbury facility is manageable. Not fun, but manageable. You get to leave prison grounds for many of the work assignments, you can walk the track everyday , there are diiferent classes, movie nights. The offenders are non-violent. Definitely not Rikers or Oz.

they have to pay $400K in restitution
if it isn't paid it would be garnished

And I'm pretty sure they will be declaring their income after prison.

Honestly, she's not a violent criminal and a first-time offender. While she shouldn't get leniency because she is a celebrity, she shouldn't get harsher treatment for it either.
