these effing SIRENS - city moms
every time i hear a %$@#$%# siren and/or honking i want to yell out the window, DON'T YOU KNOW THERE ARE BABIES SLEEPING HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!

My DH is a fireman, how about hearing the pager and scanner's going off at 3am! Thankgod Julia sleeps right though it!

I can relate, but after the baby gets used to it they can sleep through anything though.

I so hear your pain!!! We used to live on the intersection of 2 very large roads in Queens and the ***** siren would drive us crazy!!! Why, WHY, do they have to be so loud?? I used to always think: "It is 2 pm in the afternoon on a Tuesday, what, you need a siren to get through? And you have to let it run for a full minute? There is nobody on the road!!!" Those people have no respect for the residents... Probably makes them feel all important! Idiots!!

I used to always think: "It is 2 pm in the afternoon on a Tuesday, what, you need a siren to get through? And you have to let it run for a full minute? There is nobody on the road!!!" Those people have no respect for the residents... Probably makes them feel all important! Idiots!!
No, the reason they have to make a lot of noise is because they are driving VERY fast to get to the person's house, or buliding thats introuble, and god forbid they hit someone, they can get into a lot of trouble if they didn't have there sirens on. They have to use them.

I am sure they HAVE to use them, but not for 5 minutes while driving along a completely empty road or even worst, standing in dead truffic right under someones window and just keeping that thing on the while time! Hey, you are not moving , buddy, no matter where you are going and why, just shut up!!! there is nowhere to go, no matter what you do! It't fraken Queens Boulevard on a Sunday afternoon, you can turn your siren on all you want!

I get what your saying, they have to use common sense too, when my DH is going on a call he only uses the sirens when he needs too, some guys I guess just get a little too crazy with it, its by law that they use it though, and if they get into an accident and they didn't have them on, there the ones that get into trouble.
