They identified the woman in Sand's Point
SANDS POINT, N.Y. -- A young woman whose battered body was dumped under shrubs in an exclusive Long Island enclave was identified Tuesday as a 24-year-old mother of two who lived more than 50 miles away, police said.
The woman, whose body was found by a passerby in the north shore village of Sands Point Saturday morning, was identified as Elisabeth "Lisa" Parisi of Mastic Beach, on Long Island's south shore.
Lt. Detective Dennis Farrell, commander of the Nassau County police homicide squad, said the woman was identified after police received "a tremendous number" of phone calls telling them of the woman's identity. On Monday, police released a sketch of the woman, as well as specific details of what she was wearing, including descriptions of her jewelry and a tattoo.
Farrell said Parisi was arrested on a domestic assault charge in July and authorities were able to positively identify her based on fingerprints on file from that arrest. He declined to elaborate on the arrest, but Robert Clifford, a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota, said Parisi was charged after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend numerous times with a kitchen knife.
Clifford had no information on whether that case had been ajudicated.
Besides releasing Parisi's name, Nassau police released few details, other than that she was the mother of a 41/2 year old son and a 4-month-old daughter. They did not identify any suspects in the woman's killing.
When she was found, Parisi was wearing a [censored] featuring a cartoon picture of a couple clutching a mended broken heart along with the words, "love is ... patching things up."
Farrell has said the victim was beaten on the left side of her head with a blunt instrument.
Her body was found in one of Long Island's most elite neighborhoods, causing some concerns for residents most used to seeing their village police department contend with speeding cars.
"Everyone here, we leave our front doors unlocked during the day," said Larissa Klug, who left some flowers and a candle where Parisi's body was dumped.
Local residents have included members of the Vanderbilt, Guggenheim and Hearst families. Only 2,800 people live in the Gold Coast village where multimillion-dollar homes overlook the Long Island Sound and the Manhattan skyline glistens in the distance.
The community, which features some of the most expensive real estate in the country, was the model for East Egg, the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby."
There was no indication Parisi had been sexually abused. Before she was identified, Farrell had said investigators believed Parisi was killed elsewhere and dumped in Sands Point.

Poor kids, and how sad for her to end up that way. I hope they find out who did it, it's probably someone she knew.
